The Japanese Feed-In-Tariff
ABC Solar Japan is here to help!

Japan launched the new FIT on July 1, 2012 and it is the most important solar rebate and incentive program on the planet. The system is called the Japanese FIT, or Feed-in-Tariff, and it is designed to increase the adoption of solar and renewable energy technologies such as wind and geothermal.

ABC Solar Japan is focused on the solar photovoltaic portion of this grand effort to get solar on the roofs of 10 million Japanese homes. 80% of the solar systems installed to-date, over 1 million systems, are on residential rooftops. The push by the Japanese government is really one to take the monopoly of power generation and give it back to the people. This is significantly different than rebate and incentives in other countries which seem to focus on keeping the status quo with the monopoly utility companies.

42 Yen per kWh generated by solar for 20 years. This Feed-in-tariff rate is the highest on the planet and is not a mistake or a knee jerk reaction to devastating earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011. This 42 yen per kWh rate is a well thought out plan to take Japan off-the-grid during the day. The target is 1/3 of Japanese households by the year 2030. This renewable portfolio standard goal has been in place since 2003. Like other Japan Inc. industrial plans, the market expects to meet this goal by 2020. A full ten years in advance.

What does 42 yen per kWh translate to for a homeowner or business?

A typical Japanese solar system size is 5KW DC. At ABC Solar Japan we estimate the system price here only for illustrative purposes, actual pricing will vary by roof style and your solar panel choice.

Since 2000 ABC Solar USA has been part of this journey. We have witnessed the meter spinning backwards and our clients yelping and some even cried. They cried because solar has been a dream of their youth. You too will feel more connected to mother earth with your solar system. There is simply too much sun to dismiss.

  • We invite you to ask questions.
  • We invite you to be suspect of the technology.
  • We invite you to go solar.
