Christian Burke New World Record 83.04 Miles in 24 hours Run Powered by ABC Solar in Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach, CA September 6, 2010 - At 3am this morning Christian Burke broke a long standing world record for running distance during a 24 hour period. This run titled Hermosa24.com is raising money for the Hermosa Beach Schools among the huge California Budget Shortfall. But, it is not the budget or the raising of money that made this World Record so amazing. It certainly was Christian Burke himself as he ran from Hermosa Beach Pier to Manhattan Beach pier over 22 times from Noon September 5th to Noon September 6th 2010. The previous world record was 62.14 miles in a 24 hour period. Christian smashed that record by logging 83.04 miles in just less than 24 hours.

His 10-year-old company, ABC Solar, based in Torrance but founded in Rancho Palos Verdes, installs solar panels for those looking to run homes using the sun's rays.
It's a 50-year-old technology that is taking its time to catch on. He likens it to the internet, which also didn't take off for about 30 years after it was founded.

Ready to chuck his electric bills, Camarillo resident Marc Weinberg last year asked his homeowners association for permission to put solar panels on his roof.
When the Spanish Hills Homeowners Assn. said no, Weinberg sued the group. Under the state's Solar Rights Act, he argued, a homeowners association can't unreasonably block solar installations.

A South Bay solar panel installer has agreed to drop a lawsuit he filed against the city of Torrance after city officials acknowledged the policies violated state law.
The city had required Bradley Bartz, owner of Rancho Palos Verdes-based ABC Solar, to obtain the approval of nearby residents before he could install a solar system on the roof of a home in the Hillside Overlay.
